Jim and Daniel in Two Hemispheres (Not Really)

Our friend Irene took us to La Mitad del Mundo (the Middle of the World) which is a monument and major tourist attraction about a half hour north of Quito.

This picture shows the monument, with me in the Northern Hemisphere and Daniel in the Southern Hemisphere (enlarge the picture to see the yellow line between us).
And here is the obligatory goofy picture of me in both hemispheres.

But there is a problem with Mitad del Mundo.

After it was completed in 1982 a more accurate version of the World Geodetic System placed the equator 800 feet to the north of the monument. Darn! So actually Daniel and I are both in the Southern Hemisphere, which is fine with us.
