Our $14 Hostal in Quito

Here's what $14 a night buys you in Quito.

I made a reservation months ago at a place recommended by my guide book, the Posada Colonial. The manager, Jaime, was very prompt to answer my email and didn't even ask for a deposit. When Daniel got here a day later than he was supposed to, I emailed Jaime and it was no problem. It could be because this is kind of the low tourist season in Ecuador. There aren't many others staying here.

It's a old building in the Old Town section of Quito.
It's clean and very quiet (being on a side street) and our room is big. The beds are fine and the bathroom, also clean, is across the hall. They have wi-fi that's not bad. What more do you need? It's just a 10 minute walk from the center of the Old Town and a couple blocks from "La Ronda" an historic street with what passes for nightlife in this part of Quito.

There is a little patio up some stairs that are outside our room. This was the view this morning (give it a click.) I think we made a good choice.
