Our first meal in Quito was breakfast. Our guidebook recommended a place not far from our hostal called Cafeto, that features organic Ecuadorian coffee.
Daniel and I both had one of the set breakfast plates that included fresh guava juice, eggs, and a humita, to go with the good coffee.
A humita is like a tamale, except there is no stuffing, just very light fresh corn masa flavored with a little cheese and probably a little sugar and butter. Very light and delicious. In Michoacan, Mexico they have something like this that is called a uchepo. You can get them sometimes at Los Temos in Salem. But these were lighter than a uchepo.
A great start to our first day in Quito.
Beautiful colors. How was the coffee?
ReplyDeleteThe coffee was very good. We have found good coffee here using Ecuadorian beans.
