Dear readers, you are going to see a lot of food on this blog, so get used to it.
On the way to Quito via Miami I was determined to get a good meal of Cuban food. That's something we don't have a lot of in the Pacfic NW. Turns out one of Miami's most highly regarded Cuban restaurants, La Carreta has a branch at the airport. Score. It was doing a big business (seemed like everyone was eating there). They have a cafeteria line with lots of Cuban food to choose from and a special counter for freshly made Cuban sandwiches and other sandwiches which people get to go, presumably to eat on their way. I was hungry so I got the "boliche asado" in the cafeteria line with sides of beans and rice, veggies and fried plantains.
Oh, and guava cheesecake for dessert. All washed down with a beer from the Dominican Republic.
On the way out I got a Cubano (Cuban sandwich) to take to Daniel in Quito. It arrived a little the worse for wear, but it still tasted mighty good.
Mission accomplished. [Click on the picture to savor the Cuban goodness.]
