Today was the last travel day of the trip.
We went from Villa de Leyva to a town called Chiquinquira (say that five times fast), then after a little sightseeing stop we went the rest of the way to Bogota. We meant to make another stop, but more on that later.
I wanted to comment on how easy and cheap bus travel to just about anywhere is in Colombia. Just about every town of any size has a real bus station, where all the buses leave from. My experience with buses in Mexico is different. There it is confusing because buses to different places can leave from just about anywhere.
There are always employees in the bus terminal that ask where you are going and point you to the right bus.
There are lots of buses of all sizes and they leave frequently. Bus tickets never cost more than a few bucks. I think it only cost Daniel and me about $11 each today to get all the way from Villa de Leyva to Bogota.
Today we rode a van that seats about 9 or so on the first leg, and then a larger bus that seated about 17 or so on the second leg. Our experience has been that they don't stop for more passengers when all the seats are filled. That's not true in Mexico.
Colombia is so scenic that I didn't get much reading done on the bus. I'd rather look out the window.
