It's wonderful to wake up to the roosters crowing and a little town coming to life outside your window.
There is bread baking somewhere nearby.
I'd much rather wake up in a small town in Latin America than a big one.
Salento is very charming. Last night there was a lot going on. People in the bars and just hanging out in the street, including a lot of children. But then a little after 10 it all quieted down.
Today Daniel and I are going to get a better look around. There is a coffee farm that takes visitors about an hour's walk away through the beautiful countryside. I think we will do that today.
On the hill in the distance in this picture you might make out a cemetery. I think we will check that out too.
