The Train Station in Ibarra

Ibarra has a wonderful renovated train station that was completed last year.

There is a great little cafe with espresso and pastries.

There is a gift store and a small post office.

The station is well located in the middle of the town right near the sprawling mercado.

The renovation is part of Ecucador's big investment in its passenger rail system.

The focus is initially on tourism, but the infrastructure (stations, tracks and trains) may be needed in the future as rail transit becomes a more efficient way to move people, even more so than buses.
