Popayan Supper

This would be a very typical light meal in Popayan for late in the afternoon or for early evening.

It's a tamal de pipian and champus.

Tamal de pipian is apparently a Popayan specialty.

It is a tamale stuffed with an interesting mixture of potatoes and ground peanuts with a little boiled egg and achiote as well.

Champus is a drink that is found throughout the Andes.

It's a mixture of various fruits and mote (like hominy) which gives it some thickness. It is served cold.
