The Local Brew
To conclude our tour we had to have a cup made from the beans at Finca Las Brisas.
After taking the hulls off the dried beans, using a hand-cranked coffee grinder on a very loose setting, Luis showed us how he roasts his beans over coals using this high end coffee roaster consisting of a blackened old pot and a stick. ;-)
He stirs for about an hour to get it right.
He had some beans already roasted which he ground to make us each a cup. It was very good.
We asked Luis how many cups he drinks a day. He told us he typically drinks 15 cups a day.
I might too if I lived on a coffee finca.
