Here's how they know that people in the Andes have been chewing coca leaves for a long time.
We have seen these figures in other museums in our travels. Chewing coca leaves was apparently practiced by the aristocrats among the Incas and other Pre-Columbian cultures.
They sold coca leaves on the street in Ecuador and they probably sell it here as well. Daniel tried it and he said it tasted bitter and made his mouth numb.
