Ah Que Rica!

We knew from watching Anthony Bourdain's Medellin show that he had breakfast at the Minorista market. We set out to do the same, and we hoped to find the same place he ate.

In most mercados we have been to on our trip, we have seen many, many eating places. So we expected finding Bourdain's breakfast might be like finding a needle in a haystack.

But we lucked out, because it turns out there are not a lot of eating places at the Minorista market. We asked the proprietor of Ah Que Rica! if it was the spot where Bourdain ate, and she confirmed that it was.

However, we had gotten there too late for breakfast. They weren't serving the "calentao" plate that Bourdain had anymore. So we made the best of it and ordered lunch -- a plate we have had before called a "bandeja."

It starts with soup. Then comes a plate piled with beans, rice, plaintain, a fried egg, salad and a meat of your choice (in this case fried pork belly).

I had already had a banana purchased from a street vendor for a dime for my breakfast, so I just ordered a guava juice and watched Daniel eat the bandeja.

Okay, I had a few bites.
