Sebastian Adams was a Salem man who made his fortune in the late 19th century selling the amazing Chronological Chart of Ancient, Modern and Biblical History , a long scroll that was displayed in a frame with two handles at the bottom to scroll the chart through the centuries. The Oregon State Library has two copies of this and many other libraries have one too. It is not particularly rare since Sebastian sold a lot of them all over the U.S. But imagine my surprise at finding one in Quito at the Fruteria Monserrate, where Daniel and I had breakfast yesterday. And it was a Spanish-language version that I did not know existed. Apparently Sebastian collaborated with a Mexican fellow and printed this in Guadalajara in 1884.
