It was nice having the Rio Claro resort nearly all to ourselves, though some Colombian tourists showed up the second day.
We hiked up the canyon, which was very scenic, with stalactites and stalagmites at several points on the trail.
We went swimming in the Rio Claro, which was not very claro with all the rains, but enjoyable all the same.
On our second day we went rafting about five miles down the river with a lively guide named Jonathan and a group of Colombian tourists who were fun to be with.
We saw a lot more stalactites and stalagmites and some cascades. There were a few minor rapids, but nothing difficult.
For the last bit we all just jumped out of the raft and floated down the river in our life jackets.
In the evening we talked to the Canadian/German couple and heard all about Bogota, where they had spent a good bit of time. They really liked it and it served to counter some of the scary crime stories we have heard. I imagine we will like it too.
