More Views of Isla de la Corota

I would like to know how Isla de la Corota got its name.

I looked up 'corota' and it means something like "shameless."

Island of the Shameless? Maybe a good Spanish speaker can help me.

These are old growth trees I believe.

If you click on this picture to look closer you will see bromeliads growing out of the tree. The trees are covered with them. It must be beautiful when they sending out their blooms.
