Ecuadorian Ceviche

Yesterday Daniel and I had this Ecaudorian version of ceviche in Latacunga.

It is really different from the Mexican version we are used to. It is more of a cold seafood soup.

There is a tomato based broth, and mine was loaded with little cubes of some kind of white fish and good sized shrimp. Daniel got just the fish, and skipped the shrimp.

They brought three limes with a lime squeezer, so we each squeezed an entire lime into our ceviche. They also brought us each a bowl of popcorn and sliced crisp-fried plantains before the ceviche arrived. We thought it was just for snacking, but then we noticed other people dumping the bowl into the ceviche, so we did the same.

This was a really delicious and satisfying lunch.
