A Day in the Oriente (Part 3)

We had some interesting animal encounters on our day in the Oriente.

We went to a place that was some kind of reserve for monkeys, of which we were told there are five native species.

We only saw this one who was quite friendly and liked sitting on the shoulders of a fellow in our group and being fed grapes.

At the indigenous village of Kotokocha we encountered a large parrot who loved our chicha.

He drank right out of our communal bowl.

We also saw some interesting frogs and spiders.

At the end of a long day we headed back up the road along the Rio Pastaza, and back into the Andes to Banos having learned a bit about the Oriente of Ecuador.

It really is quite different from the highlands and a place I would like to get back to someday.
