The place to get a good cup of coffee in Ibarra is called Olor a Cafe (The Smell of Coffee) near the main plaza.
It also may be the best bookstore in town.
The coffeeshop features a wall of well selected books in Spanish with very idiosyncratic shelf labels, some authors (no doubt favorites of whoever selected these books), some subjects, and a "book of the day."I was pleased to see a large label for Vladimir Nabokov, even showing the universities where he taught.
Also featured were Roberto Bolano, a favorite of Daniel's, Marcel Proust, Alvaro Mutis, another favorite of mine, and Doris Lessing.
There was also this unattributed quote on one of the shelf labels: "Solo el que sabe es libre y mas libre es el que mas sabe" (Only he who knows is free and he who knows more is more free).
A good motto for a librarian.
