A Vegetarian Meal

Our guidebook's top restaurant pick in La Candelaria is a little vegetarian restaurant just a few blocks from our hostel.

We hadn't eaten anything since breakfast and vegetarian food sounded good.

It's called Quinua and Amaranto, and it's run by the owner and one cook.

The food is made in an open kitchen.

We showed up at an odd time in the late afternoon, but the owner welcomed us and offered us the menu del dia from earlier.

Our first course was a delicious mushroom soup that was freshly made to order.
Daniel had this freshly made vegetarian empanada with a salad (click on the picture to see how great this plate looked). I had vegetarian lasagna.

It was a fine meal and a welcome change from our usual Colombian diet.
